More about this product

Standards and code sets

  • ICD-10-CM
  • ICD-10-PCS
  • ICD-10-AM
  • CPT
  • ACHI

How this works with the rest of the suite

  • NANO DRG

A grouper consumes coded episodes, so the classification is only ever as consistent as the terminology underneath it.

  • NANO AI CDI 360

Documentation integrity finds the gap; terminology management is where the right code for closing it is found.

  • NANO MCRW

Terminology answers "which code"; the rules wizard is where your team encodes "and when".

  • NANO DIICS

Systems can only exchange meaning if they agree on the vocabulary — which is the problem terminology management exists to solve.

Frequently asked questions

What is terminology management in healthcare?

Keeping the clinical vocabularies an organisation uses — diagnosis codes, procedure codes, drug terms — consistent, current and mapped to each other. It sounds administrative until two systems disagree about what a code means, at which point it becomes the reason a claim was rejected or a report is wrong.

Why does mapping between code sets matter?

Because a group operating across markets is running more than one. Saudi Arabia codes in ICD-10-AM with ACHI; the UAE runs ICD-10-CM with CPT. A record that has to be understood in both needs a maintained mapping rather than a spreadsheet somebody keeps privately.

Can we search by something other than the code number?

Yes, and it is the point. You can search by partial description or by synonym, which is what a coder actually has when they are working from a clinical note — the note says what happened, not what it is called in the classification.

How are code changes handled?

New, revised and deleted codes are tracked for each code set. That matters because classifications are revised annually and a code that quietly disappeared is a rejection waiting to happen.

What are crosswalks?

The relationships a classification declares between its own codes — Applicable To, Code Also, Code First, Includes, Use Additional, and the Type 1 and Type 2 Excludes rules. They are what turn a code list into a usable classification, and getting them wrong is one of the commonest sources of avoidable denials.
